Why Should the Wealthy Have All the Good Options?
By Karl Mifsud
One question kept coming up.
“Karl... this all makes sense, but surely opportunities like this are only available to wealthy investors?”
To be honest, that was my first thought too.
Most large-scale, globally branded hospitality assets have never really been built for everyday investors.
They’ve been built for institutions.
Family offices.
High-net-worth investors.
People who can write very large cheques.
That didn’t sit well with me.
Because the issue was never whether the opportunity made sense.
The issue was that most Australians were never even invited to look at it.
That’s what got my attention.
Over the last 30 years, I’ve met a lot of good people who have worked incredibly hard.
They’ve built equity.
They’ve contributed to super.
They’ve done what they were told was the right thing.
But many are still looking for more income, less debt and better choices before retirement.
So I kept asking myself the same question.
Why should access depend on already being wealthy?
That question changed the direction of my work.
I started looking beyond the opportunity.
I started looking at the structure.
Because sometimes the problem is not the investment itself.
Sometimes the problem is how people access it.
That’s what I’ve spent the last year working through.
How do we give Australian investors access to this type of asset class in a way that is structured, considered and properly explained?
How do we make sure governance is taken seriously?
How do we make sure people understand what they’re investing in?
How do we remove the noise and get to the truth?
That’s the part I care about.
I’m not interested in giving people another shiny investment to look at.
There are plenty of those.
I’m interested in giving people better options.
Because when people understand their options, they make better decisions.
And when they make better decisions, they usually create better outcomes for themselves and their families.
That’s what this has always been about for me.
Not overseas property.
Not hotels.
Not chasing the next big thing.
Better choices.
My Thoughts
I don’t believe every opportunity should be available to everyone.
That’s not what I’m saying.
But I do believe everyday Australians deserve to understand opportunities that were once only shown to the wealthy.
Then they can decide for themselves.
That’s how good decisions are made.
And that’s why I do this work.
